Tips for Abstract Presenters
This webpage is meant to provide accepted abstract authors of the International Conference on Transport & Health (ICTH) with permission to BREAK TRADITION. Please avoid presenting by reading information directly off a Microsoft Power Point slide deck. Give your audience a different perspective.
We realize that presenting in a virtual setting will be challenging, if not impossible, in terms of studying audience body language and facial expressions. This means you need to come to present with full energy and enthusiasm to engage your audience.

ICTH Presentation Guidelines
General session blocks of 90 minutes will include two (2) to three (3) presentations; oral, pecha kuch or poster. Each presenter will have 10-20 minutes, depending on presentation style, as part of the session block in which you are assigned. We would like you to work with the other members of your team to come up with a title for the session and flow of presentations.
Due to the hybrid (virtual and in-person) nature of the conference for 2022, each team will be assigned a Zoomologist to assume responsibility for the Zoom technology. You DO NOT need to submit your slide decks to ICTH. Using Zoom technology, each presenter will be given screen sharing privileges. Please sign into the Zoom meeting at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your session.
Team members will be responsible for introducing each other to the audience by reading a brief 100 word bio. Each team is responsible for monitoring the chat box for comments and questions. If the team decides to include and interactive activity for the audience, you will need to coordinate with the assigned Zoomologist.
It has been scientifically proven that most people learn through doing. If the audience is actively engaged, it is more likely that the presented information will prove memorable; thus have a greater impact. This will be even more important to consider while preparing for a virtual conference. Plus, in preparing for this activity, you get to know your teammates and build a sense of cohesion through cross-disciplinary and multi-sector communication/brainstorming, commitment, team strategy, risk-taking and innovation. Presenting at ICTH will involve more work on your part as compared to other conferences. HAVE FUN!

Pecha Kucha
Pecha Kucha 20x20 is a simple presentation format where you show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images advance automatically and you talk along to the images for a total of seven (7) minutes. More images are used as opposed to text. This format directs audience attention directly to the presenter. In addition, teams will have 10-minutes to deliver a series of rapid fire questions following each presentation. These questions should be prepared prior to the session. Here is an Internet resource, "10 Tips to Create and Present Pecha Kucha" http://blog.indezine.com/2012/05/10-tips-to-create-and-present-pecha.html |

Poster Presenter Standards & Guidelines
Poster presenters have an added challenge to be creative given the individual nature of the presentation style. All posters will be uploaded to a designated ICTH web page for public viewing and organized based on team assignments, date and time of Zoom session.
During a designated Zoom poster session, teams will introduce each other to a panel of 4-6 judges and any ICTH delegates who have gathered for the presentation. Each poster presenter will have approximately 5-8 minutes to explain the nature of their research investigation and/or project. The top scoring poster will receive a certificate and a $200 USD CASH award. This poster author will also present their work during the Zoom Awards Session in which the award sponsor will introduce the author(s) prior to presentation.
Science Direct has a resource on their website entitle, "How to make an academic poster". This document may be useful to help guide the process when creating your poster, in addition to what the judges will be looking for during the poster competition.
