RIDE LIKE A GIRL
"As a little girl, Michelle Payne (Teresa Palmer) dreams of the impossible: winning the Melbourne Cup — horse-racing's toughest two-mile race. The youngest of 10 children, Michelle is raised by single father Paddy (Sam Neill). She leaves school at 15 to become a jockey and after early failures she finds her feet, but a family tragedy, followed by her own near fatal horse fall all but ends the dream. But with the love of her dad and her brother Stevie, Michelle will not give up. Against all the medical advice, and the protests of her siblings, she rides on, and meets the Prince of Penzance. Together they overcome impossible odds for a shot at the dream: a ride in the 2015 Melbourne Cup, at odds of 100 to 1. The rest is history. Ride Like A Girl is the incredible true story of Michelle Payne. Coming to Australian cinemas on September 26, 2019."
ICTH will be organizing a movie night for delegates interested in seeing the film, "Ride Like A Girl."
This activity will be dependent on local showing of the film ICTH 2019 - Melbourne
Smart Cities. Disruptive Mobility. Healthy People. It is anticipated that there will be transformational changes to transport service capabilities within the short time that it will take to plan, design and implement the conventional infrastructure project. That being said, transport and governmental agencies must be flexible enough to accommodate the changes expected in technology over the next few years. In particular, the probability that fully autonomous self-driving vehicles will become commercially available by 2020. This alone, would be a game changer, and directly impact transport service delivery and the quality of life within the affected communities. A look forward today will ensure that the demands of a diverse and growing population are met, thereby making local communities an attractive place to live, work and play. ICTH 2019-Melbourne aims to provide valuable insights into the health impacts of technological disruptions in transport and urban planning, governance, strategic and policy decision-making, performance tools and the potential return on investment of a dynamic system. Join us to learn HOW the most innovative minds in academia, practice and policy are bridging the gap between scientific investigation and real-world application. IMPORTANT NOTE: To present at ICTH 2019-Melbourne, your abstract DOES NOT need to focus on technology or disruptive mobility. The overall theme of the conference will highlight emerging issues of smart cities and disruptive mobility; however the primary focus is the impact of transport (and urban/rural) planning and design on quality of life, health and well-being in communities. ICTH is not just a conference, it's people coming together to facilitate change. |
ICTH is a direct participatory experience. Policy-makers, practitioners and academics from multiple disciplines and professional sectors involved in transport planning and engineering, public health, urban planning, spatial and architectural design, environmental planning, economics and beyond will meet to share their stories of success and failure; build world-wide collaborative friendships; but most importantly, leave inspired!
ICTH is the only conference in a world-wide market fully dedicated to transport systems and health impacts. Interactive Hot Topic Workshops and abstract presentations (oral, pecha kucha and poster) will be led by cross-disciplinary teams to demonstrate “how” non-traditional and innovative thinking can lead to creative problem solving.
